We Are Words + Pictures started life in Autumn 2008 as a small press comics collective made up of Matthew Sheret, Julia Scheele, and occasionally Sarah Gordon, and after two very successful publications and a year of attending alternative print fairs the project evolved into an irregular ‘zine and comics market stall.

We Are Words + Pictures will take the stall to music festivals, village fairs, art galleries and schools, and will be open to any opportunity to get new work into fresh hands. We will offer a space for ‘zines and comics that embrace the potential of the printed form, regardless of genre, and aim to stock publications that embrace the varied delights of binding, paper stock, print quality and page format, placing equal weight on content and design.
